Here’s my take on how to dress like Villanelle from ‘Killing eve’ without breaking your bank
As the name suggests correctly, we are talking about the most coveted character from ‘Killing Eve’ played by Jodie comer-Villanelle. A skilled Russian assassin with a wardrobe to die for. She is the best dressed anti-heroine I have ever witnessed on screen with a sense of humour to match her killer moves and confidence that matches her bold style. Now Villanelle here is a highly paid hit woman who can definitely afford all the high end fashion labels for her OOTDs but let’s be honest, most of us cannot. Luckily it’s not too difficult to find outfits that will make you look as badass and classy as her and this is what I have got for you.

I got a glimpse of Villanelle’s bold and crazy sense of style through this scene where she wears a voluminous pink tulle Molly Goddard dress for her psychoanalysis test. You can achieve this feminine yet daring look by wearing the Cut N Sew Fashion tiered tulle skirt available on Flipkart as a dress.

If you want something underrated then go ahead with a net skirt and an artsy top like the ones from Zara as a statement piece. The maxi dress with the eye catching violet and frills also does the trick, it will instantly make you stand out in the crowd.

This floral maxi dress from The Vampire’s wife is unlike the fluffy pink OTT tulle dress and it gives you the girl-next-door vibe with its flowy fabric and floral print. This dress became so popular that the designer has named it “The Villanelle Dress” for good reasons.

There are a lot of floral maxi dresses available online in every flattery cut and print as you please. So, don’t be shy and explore away. I found these on Myntra and fell in love with them as instantly as “The Villanelle Dress”. She always keeps her accessories minimal or zero, so a tote bag and headband will help you nail this look along with a dash of attitude.

Villanelle in feminine dresses is a rare sighting but definitely worth it and it left me wishing for more but you can’t dress cute and make the kill or so she thinks. I absolutely fell in love with this red and white Miu Miu wrap dress.
I found some similar styles from Bossini and Mango. The La Double J boho dress was partic

ularly difficult to match with anything available online with a colour and print as striking as this one but these dresses from J C collection and Abiti Bella have cool boho prints and colours to fit the bill for this look. If you loved the blue lace Burberry dress then the Sassafras dress is for you with its sky-blue feminine touch.

Now here are some statement outfits from her closet which only she could have pulled off effortlessly. The heavy duty Phillip Lim embroidered cropped bomber jacket with Rokshanda trousers is my favourite look because I love myself a statement jacket with loose wide legged trousers any given day. Whereas the printed Etro pants and Alexander McQueen’s pink wool blend asymmetrical coat plays a contrast to my favourite. You can choose the print pants like the ones from Promod or Sela and pair them with a white shirt or tee. The pink coat is too much for me and not for humid Bombay weather so I skipped it, but if you live in northern cities than opt for a basic pink blazer or a solid colour that matches your printed pants. I couldn’t find any heavily embroidered bomber jacket but these printed ones from Marie Claire and Vero Moda along with the stripped pants somewhat resemble my favourite look. I would opt for a pastel wide legged trouser for this look sans the side stripe.

The gothic black gown worn by her is from the vintage McQueen couture collection and here are some equally amazing maxi dresses from Zara to bring out your inner goth queen. She is wearing an oversized silk shirt from Rosie Assoulin with a vintage Kafta ballgown skirt and this outfit is an ode to the pink tulle Molly Goddard dress because it is huge and shouting for attention with it’s bright pink and oversized appearance. Now this outfit is not very realistic but you can emulate it with this M&S pink shirt and a green satin skirt from Zara, just buy two sizes larger in shirt and tie it up to give that OTT look. I prefer the satin skirt to balance the look with a slimmer bottom but the striking green calls for attention. Mission accomplished!

Enough of partying and playing around, let’s get to business. Villanelle is a professional killer and she suit up like she means serious business with a touch of rebellion. Nothing says business like a structured suit and you will find her in Dries Von Noten printed suit to the retro printed Halpern suit with matching bell bottoms, the tailored Dice Kayek blue pant suit, the three piece grey Chalayan suit or the horse printed Chloe suit. Some daring choices for formal suits.

Sport these bright and unique coloured pant suits from Zara, Mango and Van Heusen or opt for this funky owl print blazer from Pannkh. You can create the exact Dice Kayek pant suit look with these Sassafras and Oxolloxo outfits with a pair of golden oxfords. If you want to nail the monochrome look like her Chalayan suit which is also androgynous then opt for the monotone look from H&M.

What I love about Villanelle is she is not just stylish but her style is very comfortable. You will always see her in loose and flowy silhouettes, whether it’s a suit, dress, bottoms or coat. She has a flair for wide legged, loose trousers and slouchy blouses. She is dressed like a true blue British in this Raey trousers with white shirt and tie with a vintage cable knit sweater. Her flowy top to bottom red look from Lanvin is my favourite and nothing says rebel like her plaid on plaid look.

I found an exact outfit like the red Lanvin top and trouser from Code by Lifestyle and Fablestreet or the unique Zara culottes which can be cinched with a black belt. The white polka dot top from Petar Petrov Connor can be easily recreated with this Mango blouse with Quiero trousers or you can mix it up and add a dash of colour with the green Harpa top. Pair this Levis shirt and M&S pants to create the plaid on plaid look and a pair of slouchy khaki trousers from Mango to nail that British chic look.

Villanelle didn’t accessorize at all for most of her looks but she has an edgy choice when it comes to shoes. Here are some shoe closet staples of Villanelle. Most of the times with style icons, the awesome style comes with sky high heels but not with Villanelle. You will find her in cowboy boots, combat boots, ankle boots and rarely in heels which are hardly a couple inches.
Comfortable, bold, edgy and classy can be defined in one word-Villanelle.
